Ivy Tech Community College and Mohave Community College, two Inspark Network members received prestigious $10,000 Faculty-Led Digital Learning Innovation Awards recognizing their work and impact on student learning.

We are beyond thrilled to tell you that this week at OLC Accelerate in Orlando, that Inspark Teaching Network members from Mohave Community College and Ivy Tech Community College combined to take home TWO $10,000 Faculty-led 2018 Digital Learning Innovation (DLI) Awards for their implementation of the BioBeyond Smart Course.

1. Ivy Tech Community College with Dr. Reid Morehouse, for their use of BioBeyond in their BIOL 101 Introductory Biology course. BioBeyond serves as their primary learning resources for the distance education sections of BIOL 101 in helping to remove barriers to success that students face: access to course materials and cost of course materials. The deployment of BioBeyond has saved each student approximately $150 in course materials.

2. Mohave Community College, with Tonya Baxley and colleagues in the Life Science Department for their adoption of BioBeyond in response to low success rates and concerns about affordability in their biology course. Mohave Community College students in BioBeyond-enhanced sections final course performance showed a +0.26 increase on a 4.0 grade point scale compared to counterparts in traditional sections. The team of faculty at Mohave continue to implement an active teaching model built to compliment the BioBeyond courseware in order to engineer an environment in which the curiosity of the student drives their learning outcomes.

If you are not familiar with the OLC DLIAwards, now in its third year, these awards recognize faculty-led teams and institutions for innovations in digital learning that help students succeed academically. Our Insparkers were among 10-faculty led teams selected from two submissions. This brings the sum total of OLC DLIAward for The Inspark Teaching Network and its members to a total of FOUR awards in the past two years!
